Serenity 101: What It Means To Live A Serene Life And Be Serene

February 25, 2021 //  by RelaxationMoments//  Leave a Comment

We rush from task to task, making a daily concerted effort to complete something. Often, it feels as though you’re trying to run up the down escalator. We speed along to the next thing, constantly in a rush to get it over with, to speed to the next thing. Rarely do we reach what we consider to be our final destination. When we do manage it, we look around at the chaos we created and realize that it was all down to us.

We are stressed out, completely exhausted by the daily grind. We never have enough time for the things we truly value or what we’d like to be doing. It might feel like there’s no other choice, but the reality of the matter is that it doesn’t need to be this way. You can live a simple life (or, simpler, at least). You can enjoy life; you can find serenity instead of rushing from thing to thing.

Everyone wants serenity. This elusive state that we are convinced only monks can achieve. Serenity makes you better equipped to handle life. You become more adept at handling problems. Once upon a time, something that seemed like a massive catastrophe is merely a small issue.

You can react with clear, steady thinking. It’s impossible to achieve this without effort. To become a serene person and live a serene life, you must build positive mental habits to create a peaceful mind. You need to eat well and exercise to support a healthy body.

Simplify Life

You can go Marie Kondo and toss everything that doesn’t spark joy in your life. However, simplifying your life doesn’t necessarily mean weighing up only material items. Look at your life. Are there things you’re obsessed with? Do you have too much stuff? So much that it’s packed away because you don’t really know what else to do with it? Do you have a nasty shopping habit, even though you don’t need stuff?

This isn’t about throwing everything away. It’s about building a healthy relationship with material wealth and possessions. It isn’t about want, it’s about need.

Ego

Your ego can create havoc, it’s constantly trying to prove you’re better than everyone else. It judges, it compares, and it’s exhausting. Try to pay more attention to it in action. You will see a difference between what you really want to do versus what your ego suggests you do. Are you chasing a goal or a dream because it’s what you want or because it feels like it’s what you should want? The latter isn’t going to help you find serenity.

Let Go

The anger and resentment you carry with you makes life heavy. You are going to experience disappointment because people will always let you down. It’s natural. You can’t influence the hurt they cause; you can only influence your response to the pain they cause. It’s time to give people the benefit of the doubt and assume the hurt is misguided versus intentional. It’s an important aspect of finding serenity.

Mindfulness & Compassion

To find true serenity, you need to be mindful of your emotions, actions, and thoughts. Be conscious about what you say, how you act, how you feel, and what you think. Self-observation will help you understand yourself better and meditation will help you transform yourself. Pay attention to your intentions and be willing to get to know yourself on a deeper level.

Compassion is something that you should extend to yourself as well as to others. Judge yourself less, be kind to yourself, revel in joy. Forgive, forget, practice compassion, and move forward. That is what it means to live a serene life and be serene.

Daily Self-Care Checklist

April 5, 2020 //  by RelaxationMoments//  Leave a Comment

If you want to feel better on a daily basis, then you must have a plan for your self-care. You can’t count on having other people to help with your well-being, so you must have a daily plan. You might think that having a plan for your own self-care is a waste of time, but by taking care of your body and mind, you can avoid additional mental or health problems in the future. Use these self-care guidelines to improve the way that you feel.

Emotional Self-Care

Experts believe that your emotional well-being is vitally important, and you may overlook this aspect of your health. You may think that your emotional well-being is good because you are in denial of certain stressful situations in your life, but if you ignore emotional difficulties, then the problems will get worse with time. One of the best ways to understand your emotional health is by taking time to notice your mood. If you are a busy person, then you might not notice that you are feeling anxious, sad or angry until the emotions lead to serious problems.

Physical Self-Care

Physical self-care involves many aspects of your daily life, including eating the right foods, sleeping enough and getting plenty of exercise. If you aren’t consuming a nutritious diet, then you need to create daily menu plans that include fresh vegetables and fruits along with whole grains, dairy products and lean proteins. At the same time, you should have an exercise routine that includes a variety of physical activity. In addition, adults require seven to nine hours of sleep each night to avoid illnesses such as colds and influenza.

Spiritual Self-Care

Spiritual self-care can include traditional religious services, but it also can involve daily practices such as meditation or prayer. You may want to have a quiet area of your home where you can focus on spirituality. This area might have religious figurines, candles or other objects that you can focus on to clear your mind of troubling thoughts. If you don’t understand how to meditate, then you can enroll in a class that teaches you how to focus your mind.

Professional Self-Care

An important part of self-care is visiting professionals for examinations for potential problems such as high blood pressure, diabetes mellitus or cancer. If you already have a chronic health problem, then professional self-care includes scheduling appointments with specialists who can help you manage problems with your blood sugar levels or high blood pressure. You can also join support groups that include other individuals who have the same medical condition so that you can learn more about nontraditional ways to improve your physical health.

Psychological Self-care

If you are having emotional or mental challenges, then it is essential to seek help from a psychiatric professional. In addition to having conditions such as depression or post-traumatic stress disorder, you can have problems with addictions to alcohol or drugs. A psychiatrist or counselors can also help you overcome problems that occurred during your childhood, or they can assist you with relationship difficulties.

Use a Calendar to Keep Track of Self-care

The best way to keep track of self-care is by having a calendar to schedule the times and days for appointments or other activities.

Essential Oils for Massage

If you’re someone who is familiar with essential oils, you probably have some knowledge about their usefulness, and how they can be used medicinally for a variety of common conditions. It should make sense then, that pairing essential oils with the ancient practice of massage can have a host of benefits for a person looking to be seen by a massage therapist. Here are some essential oils that can be used during massage.

Geranium Oil

This powerful essential oil is associated with healthy firm skin. It has properties that make it excellent as a muscle toner, and skin tightener. Geranium oil is astringent, so it has profound anti-aging effects on wrinkles. In addition to those amazing beauty uses, it also has a great scent that relaxes and eases emotional upheaval. This gives it strong natural deodorant uses as well, which is a major bonus when you are having it rubbed on you!

Coriander Oil

The fascinating history of coriander oil and its past uses are quite interesting. In ancient Egypt, it was considered to be an aphrodisiac, and was mentioned in some of the famous literature from the days of antiquity. It was well known for its anti-bacterial attributes, because it helps fight the germs that cause unpleasant odors. Another one of its most useful qualities is its tendency to be anti- spasmodic, in that it helps to relieve muscle spasms when applied.

Lavender Oil

Do you have sore and tight muscles? Lavender oil is excellent for relaxing muscle and helping it to heal. This oil is quickly absorbed into the bloodstream. On an emotional level, the lavender works to promote and better sense of calm, and well-being. On a physical level, the oil helps to heal blemishes, skin issues and restores skin to a healthy complexion. It can also use its antioxidants to slow effects of aging, and can help fight psoriasis.

Hinoki Oil

Hinoki oil has a rich history in Japan, finding its home in bathhouses, and religious institutions. It has long been associated with the health of the respiratory system by acting as a decongestant, and helping other breathing problems by relieving stress that causes chest tightening. While this oil is powerful and continues to have various benefits, it isn’t recommended for women that are pregnant or breastfeeding.
